... Since I got myself on a trail. Sad to say it, but all this business of building a business has left me with a serious nature-deficiency in my life. It's great to be making strides towards success, but one should not forget to do the things they love, and it didn't take long on the trail to remember why I love it out there.
Now is the time around Victoria when all the spring bloom is in full effect. The sword ferns are huge and look beautiful in their multiple shades of green. Salmon berries are starting to ripen, huckleberry bushes are sprouting fresh leaves, and Salal berries are starting to flower. Birds chirp with excitement as they feast and the days are almost at their longest, which gives even the 9-5ers a chance to take a lengthy hike after a long day inside.
Finding this buffet of Oyster Mushrooms on a fallen tree was the big excitement for my hike! Luckily I was on a trail close to home, so I ran back for a container to sample some of these perfectly ripe mushrooms. After much googling, I determined they were safe to eat and pan fried them with some fresh radish greens from my garden.
If this is any sort of "sign" it should be taken as a reminder that there is so much incredible stuff to be found in nature, and sometimes it's just in your favourite local park. If you think you've seen it all, get back out there and look again!
