With the pandemic winding down and travel returning to peoples normal summer routine, I'm finally getting some boots on the ground! Bookings started coming in for July once provincial travel restrictions were lifted here in BC, and I just took a family on a tour through the Sooke Potholes last week. I've been doing plenty of swimming there myself, especially during the record setting heat wave at the end of June, but getting the chance to share the place with people seeing it for the first time is always a treat for me.
This burst of business over the first half of July makes me hopeful for an eventual return to normal for every aspect of our lives, but when that will be remains uncertain. That's always been a big part of this business for me; uncertainty. Nothing is guaranteed when your're in business for yourself, but if you love what you do, you persevere. Like climbing a mountain, it's never a slow steady rise to the top, there are up's & down's, and times where you're just standing still on the edge of a cliff staring proudly at how far you've come.
The Natural Connection isn't just a business to me, it's a lifestyle choice. Any entrepreneur will tell you the same thing about their passion. I have to structure the rest of my life around my goals and aspirations of this business. Make sure I have enough free time in my personal schedule to accept tour bookings, but also hold down a steady part-time job to pay the bills when tours don't come. Trust me though, I'm happier with this work lifestyle than a 9-5 anything. My other jobs have been interesting and diverse, but there are few things I feel I could do as my life's work other than working for myself.

I'm looking forward to the season ahead, and many more boots on the ground. Although, if its really hot, don't be surprised to see me hiking in sandals!
